Wherever you read you will find conflicting advice on whether you should stop drinking caffeine when trying for a baby.
My personal opinion is that you should! The reason being, when we drink caffeine there is a spike in adrenaline and cortisol, these are the 'fight or flight' hormones. When cortisol and adrenaline are raised, this not only puts stress on the adrenal glands, but also draws off of the fertility hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone which are essential for fertility.
I know it is easier said than done to stop drinking caffeine, especially when you are exhausted and stressed and coffee is what is keeping you going. If this sounds like you, then I recommend you start homeopathic treatment which can help you recover, get your energy levels back, so there is energy to be able to make healthier choices. There are also many Homeopathic remedies that can help, including a caffeine detox which will really help whilst you are trying to quit.
I personally quit drinking caffeine over 8 years ago now, I am not going to lie, that first fortnight is tough, you will feel more tired, but I promise you that once you get over the initial tough first week, your energy will balance out and you will find your energy is more steady throughout the day.
TIP 1 - Start with decaffeinated tea or coffee. Drinking a warm drink in the morning is a habit that many people enjoy, the first step is to go decaffeinated for now.
TIP 2 - Find a tasty alternative such as a herbal tea or a fertility smoothie, that you enjoy. (I have recently written a blog about fertility smoothies - link in bio)
TIP 3 - Be kind to yourself whilst quitting caffeine, self talk can really help here - keep telling yourself that you will be ok and this will pass and you are going to feel so much better in the long run.
TIP 4 - Get the Homeopathic Remedy Nux Vomica 30c and take as needed when cravings are overwhelming. This is also a great remedy to help detox your liver at the same time.
TIP 5 - If you really don't think you can quit caffeine, Homeopathic Caffeine can be given as a course over 8 weeks to help you kick the habit for good, get in touch for more information.
BONUS TIP - Try not to slip up and think, one coffee won't hurt. When trying to stop drinking something as addictive as coffee this will put you right at the beginning of the process again!
