Taking your temperature each morning sounds like a right faff, I get it! But the benefits of taking your temperature each morning gives far more insight than just an ovulation strip!
When you ovulate your body temperature rises slightly and you have the most chance of getting pregnant if you have sex a couple of days before you predict your temperature to rise.
After you ovulate the egg is fertile for just 12 - 24 hours!! I know right! Not long at all! But fear not, those little swimmers can survive for 5 days and will be right there waiting.
The added bonus of taking your temperatures is that a practitioner specialising in fertility can also tell from your daily temperatures whether your thyroid or adrenal glands are under stress and help to support you prepare your body for pregnancy.
So what do you need to get started...
A basal body thermometer that reads up to two decimal places, about £15 on amazon.
An app to record your temperatures. I recommend Fertility Friend.
How to read your temperatures.
Each morning, before you speak, move, drink a glass of water, you want to take your temperature.
It is ideal if it can be within the same half an hour each day.
