The 3 Different Types of IBS

Updated: Nov 18, 2020

There are three types of irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS.

They include:

IBS with constipation - (C-IBS). This comes with stomach pain and discomfort, bloating, abnormally delayed or infrequent bowel movement, or lumpy/hard stool.

IBS with diarrhea - (D-IBS). This comes with stomach pain and discomfort, an urgent need to move your bowels, abnormally frequent bowel movements, or loose/watery stool.

IBS with alternating constipation and diarrhea (A-IBS). There are about an equal number of people with IBS in each category. There is also evidence that most people with IBS will alternate between types over time.

Pharmaceutical companies are trying to treat all the different types of IBS with one drug. As a Homeopath i have 3000 remedies at my disposal, Which remedy I prescribe depends on your personal case, how the symptoms present for you. I am interested in whether your IBS is worse in the morning or evening. Whether it is worse or better after eating, whether you are thirsty, your favourite foods.

When your IBS started is also of great importance, as when we go back to the causation and heal that, symptoms of IBS fall away.

I have had great results treating IBS. To discuss your case with me, book a free 15 minute consultation here.
